Systeme.io Tutorial for Beginners 2026 — Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Account Creation — 2 Minutes

Go to systeme.io and click the green Get Started For Free button. Enter your email address and choose a password. No credit card is required. Click create account and your dashboard is live immediately.

You will land on your Systeme.io dashboard. The left sidebar is your main navigation — Funnels, Emails, Products, Contacts, Automations, Affiliate, Blog, Settings. Everything you need is in one place.

Profile and Domain Setup — 10 Minutes

Before building anything, configure your account settings. Go to Settings → Profile. Add your name, profile photo and business name. This information appears in your email footers and is required for CAN-SPAM compliance.

Next go to Settings → Custom Domains. On the free plan you get one custom domain. Connect your domain by adding a CNAME record pointing to Systeme.io — your domain registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Hostinger etc.) will have instructions for adding CNAME records. This takes 5-15 minutes to propagate.

If you do not have a custom domain yet, your funnel pages will be hosted on a systeme.io subdomain (yourname.systeme.io) — this works fine for starting out.

First Opt-in Funnel — 30-60 Minutes

Your first funnel is the most important thing to build. An opt-in funnel captures visitor email addresses in exchange for a free resource — a PDF guide, a checklist, a mini-course, a template. Once someone is on your email list, you can market to them indefinitely.

Go to Funnels → Create. Select Audience Builder as your funnel type. Choose a template — pick one that matches your niche. You will see two steps already created: Squeeze Page (opt-in page) and Thank You Page.

Click Edit on the Squeeze Page. The drag-and-drop editor opens. Customise:

• Headline — what your visitor gets by opting in
• Subheadline — specific benefit or outcome
• Opt-in form — the email capture field (already placed on the template)
• Button text — change from "Submit" to something action-oriented like "Send Me the Guide"
• Colours and fonts — match your brand

Click Save then go back and click Edit on the Thank You Page. Keep this simple — "Check your inbox! Your [lead magnet] is on its way." Add a next step if you have one (a product offer, a social follow, a video).

Email List and Welcome Sequence — 30-60 Minutes

Go to Emails → My Campaigns and click Create. Name your campaign (e.g. "Welcome Sequence"). This is the automated email sequence every new subscriber receives.

Add your emails one by one. A basic welcome sequence structure:

• Email 1 (Day 0) — Deliver the lead magnet + warm welcome
• Email 2 (Day 1) — Your story — why you created this resource
• Email 3 (Day 2) — Value email — teach something useful
• Email 4 (Day 4) — Soft pitch — introduce your main offer or affiliate product
• Email 5 (Day 6) — Social proof / case study email
• Email 6 (Day 8) — Direct pitch email

For each email, set the delay (number of days after the previous email), write your subject line and body, and save. Keep emails conversational — write like you are writing to one person, not a list.

Connect Funnel and Automation — 15 Minutes

This is the step most beginners miss — without it, people who opt in through your funnel will not be added to your email list.

Go to Automations → Create. Set the trigger to Optin Form Submitted and select your funnel's opt-in form. Set the action to Subscribe to Campaign and select your welcome sequence campaign.

Now go back to your funnel, click on the squeeze page's opt-in form, and make sure it is set to trigger the automation. Save everything.

Test it yourself — go to your live funnel URL, enter your own email address and opt in. Within a minute you should receive Email 1 from your welcome sequence. If it arrives, everything is working correctly.

Payment Setup — 10 Minutes

Even if you are not selling anything immediately, set up payment processing now so it is ready when you are. Go to Settings → Payment Gateways. Connect Stripe or PayPal (or both). Each takes about 5 minutes to connect.

Once connected, Systeme.io can process payments for any product you create — courses, digital downloads, coaching sessions, membership subscriptions — with zero transaction fees on every plan including free.

First Broadcast Email — 20 Minutes

Once you have your first subscribers (even if just your own test email), you can send broadcast emails. Go to Emails → Newsletters → Create. Write your subject line and email body. Select your contact list as the recipient.

You can send immediately or schedule for a specific time. Broadcast emails are how you promote affiliate products, announce new content, share resources and keep your list engaged between the automated welcome sequence emails.

Aim to send a broadcast email at least once per week to keep your list warm and engaged. Subscribers who do not hear from you for weeks lose interest and stop opening emails.
